Disable the device (in device manager) until they fix it. ![]() It's not just you, and it's not Windows or your install, it's THAT driver. ![]() I'm emailing ASUS (and Zvetco tech support, whom I'd already contacted) as soon as I'm done here. c) Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select ‘Troubleshoot’. b) In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the ‘language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’ and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’. After disabling this device, all of the problems went away AND my fingerprint reader began working (which it had not been previously). a) Insert the installation DVD or USB and boot Windows 8 from it. Finally, after checking the event logs, I discovered the true villain was in fact the AMDA00 Interface, which began failing (causing the timeout delays at startup) after AuthenTec AES2550 driver was installed. I spent many hours tracking this down thinking it was a problem with the Authentec AES2550 driver (as the long delays at boot up would start as soon as I installed that driver-which is required by my fingerprint reader). Follow the instructions to complete the installation. Download the file to a folder on your hard drive, and then run (double-click) it to unzip the set of files. ![]() Even in Windows 7, it does not work properly under some conditions. And as David Wolters has mailed ASUS about this, it's really strange that ASUS hasn't done something about it.
